Triathlon cake!

An order from Phildia for her husband who is turning 30 this year! She is planning a surprise birthday party for his big 30 and wanted a triathlon cake for her husband who is into triathlon! So fit! So she wanted a 3 tier cake to represent jogging, cycling and swimming in each tier. However as it was for a small party, she wanted small cakes instead. Therefore, I created a mini 4",5" and 6" 3-tier cake and it looks cute!

I never really had orders for 3-tier cakes as previously orders was only for 2-tier 5" & 8" cake so this was a new challenge for me for the start of the year. In addition, she wanted different flavours for each tier so I had to work with cakes of different density.

I did not use any pillar on the base tier as I thought the cakes are small and light. However, I was wrong after I placed the cakes on top as I realised the cakes dent in after a while. But it was too late for any changes. Luckily the structure is still stable as I used the chocolate cake as the base cake which is very dense. But still, I had my lesson learnt on the need for a stable structure!

I'm quite glad on how the cake turns out as all 3 tiers look like what they are supposed to be doing. Can you guess the individual sports?

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Another year is coming to an end again. Time flies and Jembakes have already been active for around 3 years! It all started out as an interest and till now it is still a joy to me when I am doing the cakes and when I sense the satisfaction from the customers. This year, we see a lot of repeating customers as well. Thanks for putting your trust in me and I hope that I delivered to your expectations. For new customers, thanks for giving me a chance to offer my service to you and hope I did not disappoint.

This year, I see more effort and better skills in my cake decorating skills (self-proclaimed). LOL. With varying designs that come with each order, I had more chance to explore new designs and gain more experience. Practice makes perfect and it is really true! This year, I tried to continue to explore 3D cake sculpture such as a car for my BIL which is really a breakthrough for me.

In addition, I had our first "company" trip to Chiangmai with Daddy and Mummy! I have been wanting to go on a daddy, mummy and me trip and this has finally come true!

In all, this year is another fruitful year for us and we thank each and everyone for your help in one way or another!

With this year coming to a close, it is time to set some new year resolution for the new year! My resolution for next year is to try more delicate designs on flowers. I had recently bought a flower making tool set and I will work on it next year to create a different style in my cake decorating as I have mostly been doing cartoon cakes for children (which I really enjoyed doing). In addition, we will also try to improve on our cake recipe and explore more flavours!

Soccer cake for Bf's Big 30!

This year, my Bf turns 30! I think 30 is a milestone in one's life and therefore I had a mini celebration + surprise for him! And what's a birthday celebration without a cake? My bf loves to play and watch soccer and therefore I made a soccer cake for him!

This time round I went to search on how to cover a soccer cake and I finally got the trick! In addition, I bought a half soccer cake pan which makes things easier as well. This cake looks much neater and more like a soccer! Hope he likes it!

With the cake ready, it is time for the decoration of the place! I booked a staycation at Naumi Liora hotel and the place is quite nice!

Got the biggest room which come with a porch but the porch at 1st floor is quite small.

So when everything is ready, time for the main lead to arrive! I did not tell him that I had already checked in and prepared the place!

Paw Patrol cake...

This is an order from Jocelyn who wanted a Paw Patrol cake for her daughter Ericia's birthday.. She wanted a 2D icing image cake with some designs at the side too. It was a neat and fast cake working with icing image.

3D bikini cake...

I rarely do any adult cakes as normally my orders are from mummies who wanted cakes for their son/daughter's birthday! This time round my sis wanted to order a 3D bikini cake for her colleague's birthday as he is known to be a bit horny (just kidding). It is more for the fun of it!

So we made cupcakes and I made them into two big cake pops for the boobs. But in the end I think I did one bigger than the other, Oops! It was actually quite fun doing it and the final result looks quite real. LOL.

Harry Potter cupcakes...

Another order for Harry Potter and this time it is from Rachel. I rarely had Harry Potter orders since the last one and this time round I had fun doing all the Harry Potter elements too. So Rachel sent me a picture and wanted the elements such as the wand, sorting hat, broomstick, spectacles, cauldron, etc. Check out the final results below! I really like how it turned out!

Personalized 2D icing image face cake...

This is an order from Sheryl again who wanted to order a farewell cake for one of the teachers in her son's kindergarten. She sent me a picture of Ms Shalene and I ordered an icing image with her picture. An easy 2D icing image cake.
